UAE Announces New Visa Rules for Dependents

The UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) have revealed new guidelines for dependents visiting the country.

On June 19, new visa guidelines for dependent tourists and residents were announced. Children below the age of 18 will not be charged any tourist visa fees if they are accompanied by at least one parent into the country.

According to ICA, during application parents will need to present proof that the child is under 18 years old.

Tourists who wish to use this exemption benefit can apply for family travel visas at the travel and tourism offices in their respective countries. They can also apply via UAE flight carriers – Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, Flydubai, and Air Arabia.

It’s important to note that the visa fee waiver for minors can only be availed between July 15 – September 15 each year.

Dependent UAE residents

As part of the recent changes to the UAE’s visa system, dependents can also benefit from the new guidelines.

  • For sons

UAE residents will now be able to renew their 18-year-old dependent sons’ residency visas. This applies to graduates who have completed their secondary or university education, and the permit is valid for up to two consecutive years.

Before the visa system change, people had to pay a AED 5,000 deposit for an appeal.

The process will now only cost AED 100. This can be processed through naturalization and residency offices, as well as other government-approved locations.

  • For daughters

At no age-limit, daughters can remain on their father or mother’s visa. This is only null if they get married.
