UAE Drops COVID Rules on Mandatory Face Masks While Outdoors

Starting Saturday February 26, 2022, the UAE will drop its Covid-19 rules on mandatory face masks while outside. People will no longer be required to wear face masks when outdoors, confirmed the country's National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).

Residents and tourists are still required to wear face masks while in closed spaces, such as shopping malls, offices, schools, public transport, etc.

While outdoors, face masks will be optional.

Latest updates to Dubai and Abu Dhabi's Covid-19 measures

In Dubai

Fully vaccinated passengers flying to the UAE will no longer need to take a PCR test on arrival.

Anyone who's been in close contact with a confirmed case will no longer have to quarantine for 10 days.

Those who have been in close contact must take two PCR tests, at least 48 hours apart, within five days. If both are negative, they're free to return to daily life. The new rules apply to workers in the both the government and private sector.

If you've been in close contact but you're not experiencing any symptoms, you do not have to quarantine nor take a PCR test.

In Abu Dhabi

A negative PCR test will no longer be required when arriving to or crossing the border from other emirates into Abu Dhabi, said authorities.
