Ramadan has come and gone, with many of us enjoying a long weekend for the Eid Al Fitr public holiday. Nonetheless, while the day off was great for some - it's been the first one since New Year's Day 2018!

Leaving many of us to speculate... When is the next public holiday in the UAE?

Thankfully, it looks like there's going to be lots more days off for the remainder of the 2018. It's important to remember that Islamic holidays are based on the lunar calendar, and UAE public holiday dates are confirmed by the sighting of the moon.

When is Arafat Day in UAE?

Arafat (Haj) Day is likely to fall on or around Tuesday, 21st August, which will shortly be followed by...

Eid Al Adha 2018 in UAE

...Eid Al Adha! This UAE public holiday normally lasts up to three days, so there's a possibility we'll have a five-day weekend in August! Although subject to change due to the moon sightings, Eid Al Adha 2018 is expected to fall on or around Wednesday, 22nd August. Meaning, combine with Arafat Day, there's a chance we could have Tuesday through to Thursday off.

When is Islamic New Year in UAE?

For 2018, Hijri - a.k.a. Islamic New Year - is set to fall on Wednesday, 12th September, which will give us a mid-week day off.

When is Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday in UAE?

The birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), or Milad Un Nabi, is expected to be observed on or around Wednesday, 21st November. Meaning, another mid-week break for us.

UAE Commemoration Day and UAE National Day 2018

Towards the end of the year, UAE Commemoration Day falls annually on November 30th. This date for 2018 is a Friday. UAE National Day falls shortly after, and is celebrated every year on December 2nd, to mark the creation of the United Arab Emirates. These holidays could possibly be combined, and thus we may only have the Sunday off then - resulting in another three day weekend.
