Gather similar items together and carefully place them in specific and labelled boxes. This will make it easier to find what you need later on. It also helps in identifying which boxes contain fragile items that need careful handling.
List ‘em down
Don’t you just hate it when you can’t tell for sure whether you put your antique silver cutlery in your storage unit or not? Here’s a simple tip: List all the things you’re going to store in your storage unit! An inventory will help you keep track of what’s still kept inside your unit, and what you’ve taken out. Put what you need up front
If you have sports equipment, seasonal clothing, camping gear, and holiday décor stored in your storage, best keep them near the entrance. This keeps you from having to rummage through piles of boxes to get what you came for.
Bottom heavy keeps things steady
If you’re keeping fragile items and heavy stuff together in your storage, keep this in mind – boxes of heavy items like furniture and mattresses go to the bottom of the pile, and lighter, more fragile items should be stored in boxes that go at the top of the pile. This keeps your piles of boxes from tumbling over and making a mess of your storage unit.

Lay it out, clear and simple
You shouldn’t feel like a lab rat in a maze every time you visit your storage unit. So before you even start, make sure you prepare a simple and organized layout for your space.
