Report animal cruelty in UAE

In an effort to combat animal cruelty in the UAE, an online Biosecurity system is in place for concerned residents to submit reports.

If you witness an animal welfare violation or animal cruelty in the country, there is an easy way to report this to authorities.

Ran by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the online Biosecurity portal aims to make it easier for members of the public to report any concerns related to animal welfare.

The online website (www.biosecalert.ae) allows UAE residents to submit complaints related to three categories; food safety, animal development, and agricultural development and health. Officially known as the Biosecurity Early Notification System, the portal aims to tackle any issues raised in these categories as timely and effectively as possible.

The system will also take reports of veterinary facilities that offer poor services and care to animals.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any breach of animal welfare laws in the UAE via this system; including cruelty to animals, illegal possession of dangerous or banned animals, as well as improper veterinary care - including the use of products that are out of date, contaminated or unhygienic.

Using the online portal, you can submit a report against animal health and infection, or report a breech of animal welfare legisation and UAE laws.

  • Head to www.biosecalert.ae
  • Choose either a) report animal health incident or b) report animal legislations violations incident
  • Fill in the details, including your EID, passport and contact details

Using this system, concerned residents can also report pet abandonment, which is actually illegal in the UAE and perpetrators can face time spent in jail and fines.
