With Love from Ireland…
Since joining Travel Counsellors in 2014 I have been really impressed by the truly unique ethos and values we have as a company. We are like one big family, always willing to help one another and genuinely caring about each other, both personally and professionally. Never more so was this evident to me than during my trip to Ireland this summer.

I had travelled to the emerald isle from Dubai, just my teenage son and myself. After a bit of sightseeing in Belfast, Carlingford, Dublin and Galway, we did one last day trip to the Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher. On one of the islands, we went to see a shipwreck and the path there was very uneven and rocky.  I was a bit unlucky I suppose because I slipped on one of the loose rocks, fell and couldn’t walk anymore!

After my son raised the alarm they carried me out on a stretcher and put me in a restaurant to wait for the next ferry back to the mainland (we had already missed the ferry with our tour). The Doctor there had confirmed that I must have ripped a few ligaments and possibly broken a bone or two in my foot.

I messaged my holiday cover TC colleague in Dubai to see if she could help me because I had no computer with me. A big problem was the rental car that needed to go back to Shannon Airport the next day and I could not drive now. I probably needed a proper doctor as well and was a bit nervous because my son was with me, so any help at all would have been great.

My TC colleague posted a message on our international message board regarding my predicament and a few minutes later Maeve a TC from Ireland called me to see if she could help me in any way. I was so glad to have somebody close by! She tried sorting the car issue, seeing if she could return it in Galway instead of Shannon, but that wasn’t possible. So what did Maeve who I have never even met before, do? She offered to drive us and my car rental to Shannon the next morning and take the bus back to Galway herself! A 200KM round trip!

I would never have taken up this generous offer if I hadn’t been injured so badly. But I had to…she drove us to Shannon and from there my son took over pushing me around in a wheelchair. Now after 8 weeks I can finally walk again…

THANK YOU MAEVE and I cannot wait for you to come to Dubai so I can give something back.

You made the silly accident a lot less painful!! And a big thank you to my TC holiday buddy in Dubai for her quick actions…

That’s what it is all about here at Travel Counsellors. Going the extra mile for our customers and for each other and I couldn’t be more proud!
