How to Tame Curly Hair

Curly hair is a hit or miss. Sometimes, it unexpectedly looks amazing, while other times, when you plan for it to look fabulous, it looks like a complete disaster.

If you’ve got curly hair, you know exactly the struggle and the pain all too well. To help you, we’ve come up with some curly hair hacks that have been tried and tested by our very own editorial assistant Dina!

Dry your hair with a t-shirt
We are all used to drying our hair with a towel.

However, a towel separates the hairs from each other, causing frizz.

Additionally, the towel removes whatever moisture is on at the ends of your hair, thus making your hair dry.

A t-shirt however, is lighter than a towel, so it can still dry your hair meanwhile locking in moisture and reducing frizz by keeping your locks together rather than separating them.

Oil
Using oil is a great for your hair. Not only do oils define your curls, they also nourish and hydrate your hair strands.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil: provides moisture and causes shine as the oil enters the hair shaft.

Grapeseed oil: Protects hair from heated hair tools such as blowdryers and flat irons and is an excellent tool for fighting dandruff.

Almond Oil: Similar to coconut oil, almond oil seals in moisture while smoothing the hair shaft.

Castor oil: Castor oil is known to help regain thickness in light and thin hair. Aside from this, a small amount of castor oil can help tighten hair coils and seal in moisture into your hair.

Grapeseed oil: Protects hair against heat damage meanwhile strengthening each hair strand, increasing manageability and can also be used to fight against dandruff and dry scalp.

Avocado oil: Perfect for thick, curly hair, the avocado oil is full of natural benefits such as amino acids, minerals and vitamins. These natural benefits help to strengthen the hair while used as a deep conditioning treatment.

Apple cider vinegar

A diffuser is an attachment that goes at the end of a hairdryer.
