Millions of residents live in the UAE

And you might never guess they’ll have something in common but as it turns out, they actually do!

Their google searches are what ties together millions of people living around the United Arab Emirates and here’s what’s been popular this year.

With a grand send off to 2018, it wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t tell you about the most googled phrases by residents in the country – because this year deserves a laugh out loud.

For some, 2018 was a magical year where lots of memories were formed and for others, this year’s end couldn’t come sooner.

But it seems that everyone is seeking the same information online – from sports, Bollywood and passport information, UAE residents seem to be googling the oddest things.

On Wednesday, Google finally released the anticipated list of the “Year in Search,” where it tells the public the most searched for and trending searches of the year to feed the internet’s curiosity, of course.

Unsurprisingly enough, at the top of the list lies the phrase “World Cup,” and we are slightly disappointed about how un-random this is.

For many of you that are football fans, and for the ones that were just active in 2018 you probably already anticipated that the most googled search would be about the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

France won over Croatia in a nail-biting football match in Russia this year and this obviously had people asking Google some questions.

Another sport related search toppled the second most searched item in 2018, which is the Indian Premier League (IPL).

And lastly, completing the top three would be the search for Sridevi, an Indian actress, who came third in the most searched list.

The untimely death of this popular Indian actress shocked Indians all over the world, with many UAE residents googling in efforts to find answers about her life and her mysterious death.

Most googled movies

Ahhh…the most anticipated part of the list – the part where most friendships come to an end and most relationships seize to continue.

The most anticipated “which film of 2018 is the most epic” goes to Black Panther!

The movie that left people around the world talking about it for months on end after its release, took the most googled movie title home this year, followed by Avengers Infinity War, Race 3, Venom and The Nun.
