Islamic New Year or Hijri New Year will be taking place this month and the UAE cabinet have announced an official date for it. Although the Islamic New Year is expected to fall on Wednesday July 19th 2023, officials have said that Hijri New Year will be celebrated on Friday July 21st 2023.
This translates to a three-day weekend for employees whose weekends are on Saturdays and Sundays!
What is Hijri New Year or Islamic New Year?
Hijri New Year is observed on the first day of Muharram, which is the first month in the Islamic calendar (which is based on lunar sightings).
Islamic New Year is also considered as the holiest month after Ramadan.
