Hiya, i've taken formula btls/cartoons when my son was 5mths old, BA. Most recent flights i've taken up to 8 cartoons of normal cow's milk and had no problem, all they asked was to try the milk (not all cartons) at the gates which i then transfered to a btl. I also travelled with powder and boiled cooled water and no issues. The alternative would to buy it after go past security. BA had SMA las time we flew with them. Good luck

Flying out of Dubai with the SMA cartons you will have NO issues. Where are you flying too? I know a lot of advice is to take pre measured formula powder to keep the weight down, but if its not a long flight and you only need a few cartons then the cartons are SO MUCH easier WITHOUT A DOUBT!!! FYI when I flew out of Australia I had lots of the cartons which increased the weight of my hand luggage but the security guys were so good with this as they know that as the flight progresses you use these cartons therefore reducing the weight. Flying out of other countries may be different though. eg. flying out of the UK you need to take double of what you need as apparently they make you open 50% of the cartons. HTH

Baby formula & medicines are usually ok, you could argue with them if they try to take it off you and as a backup plan have enough powder formula with you & use bottled water....?

rang airline (emirates) useless spoke to 3 different people its not that hard surely one put me on hold for 10min then said yes you can take 11lb of baby stuff onboard and we can provide a baby meal ( my question was can you take 250ml of formula through security) the other 2 had no idea and tried to refer me to 11lb of baby stuff woman, lol!

bottled water as far as I know is ok as a one off...what age is baby? They may ask you to taste the formula to prove that's what it is, so have bottles ready to open it if needed, a friend of mine used bottled water after getting advice from hospital at home for 8 month old baby, she had no problems & baby was fine although think it depends on age of baby!

i know this would be easiest but as the BFC said before formula isn't sterile unless its made with boiling water which is why i thought cartons would be the ideal solution! its so tricky its doing my head in!

You could always bring your formula (not made in bottles) & buy bottled water once you go through security, and then make up the bottles as you need them? saves you having to carry the weight of the water before then!

I was only gonna take 2 (2 x 250ml) but they are in the sma cartons, so you are saying this is no problem? thanks again

no problem at all if you have the baby with you, but take only what you need pre-measured (depending how long is the flight/airport wait, how many bottle you will need). why carry all the weight otherwise.
