If the bank has repossed the house, they are technically your landlord so technically they owe you the deposit back - would contact RERA and ask them.

We can't stay longer as we're leaving Dubai and my husband starts a new job in the UK.

then just stay in longer, proportional to the security deposit amount. they must agree that.

Our LL has had financial problems throughout our tenancy and finally the house has been repossessed. The bank has been fine with us and honoured the rest of our tenancy contract. We have asked if we will get our security deposit back at the end of the contract (end of this month) and they have said definitely not. Has anyone ever managed to get their security deposit back in this situation or should we just forget it? We're actually leaving Dubai in mid August so don't have much time to pursue it. TIA
