Gmail/Excel Question

Weird question and not sure if anyone will know. Did some admin work for a friend (I'm in the UK at the mo). He sent me the documents via email into my Gmail account. All attached well, no probs. I had to copy and paste from these Excel docs into another Excel doc, all fine.

Then I emailed them back to him. The problem is, when received and opened the docs I'd attached, all the dates I had cut and pasted had turned into the American date format (month/day/year), when they were originally in the British date format. No idea why. Checked for ages to see what the problem was and why it had done this.

Does anyone have any idea why and how I can prevent this happening?

Try selecting 'Keep Source Formatting' after you paste it onto the new excel sheet. Eitherways, it's pretty easy for your friend to change the date format back to the one he wants. Just select it from Format Cells and then save. edited by Lady_SilverX on 11/08/2011
