I forgot about the W sauce ( have never put this in myself) and quite possibly this is the key to it tasting like a "bar"bought one! I have some experimenting to do this week :)
I think you just "got" it!

If anyone knows where to buy white horseradish in a jar, can you please post?? Otherwise, is fresh horseradish commonly available in the supermarkets?
TIA
Not seen the fresh stuff, but Spinneys, Choitrams usually have Colman's or Waitrose HR sauce, which works just fine.
This is my favourite drink! I make it by doing ice, vodka, tomato juice, salt and pepper, or celery salt is even better than normal salt, tabasco, and a wedge of lemon or lime, stick of celery if you have it. mix it up and add to taste. In fact I am gonna make one now as just polished off the last of the vino!
Must try the one at the Els!
Just noticed....you didn't mention the other vital ingredient, and it is a must.......Worcester Sauce (Lea and Perrins).......... it's not a ****** without that.

I have come back from The Els club where they make the BEST ****** Mary... Have got home and had two attempts at recreating it, but it just doesn't taste right... Am feeling a bit whoozy but am willing to give it another go if someone can supply a failsafe recipe quickly!! TIA
