For Gardengirl and PJ I worked as admin at a local authority school in the Uk for over 19 years and have plenty of advise, knowledge etc about admissions and appeals procedures. If you both post your email addresses I will email you and you can then ask specific questions. Sorry I didn't post earlier, have had problems logging in. Once I see your replies I will let you know so you can delete email addresses.
Hi garden girl. We are moving back to the UK and have been told tHe same but to put in the appeal at the same time as the school application. Also that the applications should be made no earlier than 6 weeks before they start. I am going to put down a few options for each and keep everything crossed. Let me know how you get on.
Check out the education section, within talk (the forum) on www.mums net.com. It's uk based although has info from across the globe and they have many members with much experience of school appeals.
not applied yet, but been advised that we will have to appeal for a place near to our home as there are no schools with spaces and we would have to travel for a school place. think we have to apply first, then when refused, we have to start an appeal process. just waiting for confirmation that we are heading back and will then have to work out timings as I believe it is a longish process.
if anyone has been through it would appreciate any advice they can give
What is their reason for not granting admission. I worked closely with admission teams when I was back in the UK. Very emotive, and I would say that about 95% of people at went to appeal eventually got a place, however, I did work for a very small school in the country.
there are many reasons for an appeal, but basically if you are not offered a place at a suitable school, you can appeal the decision. it is in Uk and part of school application process. I am just wondering if anyone on this site has any first hand experience and can offer any advice.
Looks as if we will have to go through an appeal process to get DD into school in the UK. has anyone been through this that has any advice to give? any experiences/advice gratefully received
thanks
