It's coming up to our first wedding anniversary (yikes!) and we'd like to go to Muscat for a few days for it. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel to stay in, that's near all the sights, and not too pricey? We don't want to be out in the middle of nowhere far from everything. Thanks!

We loved the Intercontinental. My husband stayed there very often in the past years for work and I joined him whenever possible. The rooms are a bit old but the cleaning is very good, the view on the hotel park, the coast and the sea is stunning, there are two pools, one for "fun" and one for "swimmers", shaded from the sun. Most important to us: the service is really accurate, with proactive and caring people, ready to help even in unexpected situations, quite a difference from the "yes sir no sir" feeling we have even in the best addresses in Dubai (maybe this depended on the fact that we were returning customers, however it was really refreshing). The food is great too (I think this is typical for the group, at least we always experienced excellent food at Intercontinentals). I would avoid "not too pricey" places in Muscat unless you are very young or very healthy (personal opinion, of course).

We stayed at The Crowne Plaza. Really nice hotel with great pool and its own beach...Albeit down quite a few steps!
