Was wondering what happens to UAE bank accounts when your work visa is canceled? Does it affect it or not?

Don't know whats happening yet! But we have no debt here so no worries really, but we were worried accounts could be frozen and we would not be able to access out account. Maybe I should draw all the cash out and keep it under my mattress ;) x That's the best thing to do, don't take any chances.

Was wondering what happens to UAE bank accounts when your work visa is canceled? Does it affect it or not? It happened to me once but the bank did nothing. I did get a penalty for not having balance on my account, but when I lived in Bahrain the company I was leaving informed the bank they cancelled my visa and the bank (HSBC) blocked my account until I gave them proof of having a new job.. Are you going to move to another company? Nothing - let's face it, they can't organise the issue of credit cards at times never mind keep a track of your visa!

Was wondering what happens to UAE bank accounts when your work visa is canceled? Does it affect it or not? It depends. If your employer notifies the bank, the bank will usually freeze your account when they see the credit for end of service benefits. Not all employers inform the bank though, some banks don't take action, each company has their own policy so if they don't, then nothing would happen. Some banks may notice that salary isn't coming in after several months, but most won't take notice, in which case nothing will happen until you ask them to close your account.
