The beach near the kite surfing, (just south of Jumeirah Beach Park or north of the Burj Al Arab) is fun, especially if your visitors have kids. They have surf skis and an inflatable football pitch and last time we were there some guys on a jet ski towed my kids and our friends kids around on a inflatable banana boat thing. Nice clear water too.

There is a very nice one behind the new Dubai London Clinic on Jumeriah Beach road just before JB hotel.

We go swimming at the Um Suqeim beach next to the Burj Al Arab. Pretty impressive site to be swimming next to. Not pretty like Manzar or Jumeriah Beach Parks but make great photos.

Or Jumeirah Beach park. It's on Beach Road just past the Al Attar St junction (if coming from the Marina direction) or Beach Road just past Dubai Ladies' Club (if coming from the Creek/airport direction). It has loungers, shade, toilets, food and I think costs 5 dirhams per person and 20 per car to use their carpark. Just next to the beach park, going toward Burj al Arab is a free public beach which is nice but had no facilities. Very nice late afternoon at the weekends to watch kiteboarders in action. Or there is the free public beach by the Hilton in the Marina (again no facilities).
