Yep - you are entitled to better mat leave conditions if you have a DIFC employment contract as opposed to Dubai proper. Note though that if you are working for a DIFC based company but are on a contract say from a different jurisdiction, eg UK, you should in theory be given the same rights as you would normally in that country. I know of one woman who worked in a professional firm and was under a UK contract as she was transferred here. They gave her full UK benefits. They then had to offer the same to all other women working at their DIFC office regardless of the jurisdiction of the contract as they set a precedent with her!

Ladybird, I worked in DIFC and was entitled to 100 days mat leave (45 at full pay & 45 at half pay) as per the DIFC law. I was able to agree to an additional 6+ months of unpaid leave with my employer separately. DIFC has different laws to the UAE labor law.. it's worth investigating further.. Goodluck with your pregnancy - how exciting you're expecting twins! Would LOVE twins! xC

Does anyone know if you'll be entitled to extra days maternity leave if you're expecting twins? Unfortunately no, it is standard : ( Did you say you worked at DIFC in one of your other posts? DIFC has better maternity leave provisions than Dubai proper. Hi M: yeah I work in the DIFC, but only get 45 days :(. Can't believe they can think that is enough time to bond with a new born baby!
