Birth certificate for new born - procedure?

I'll be delivering in CH via c-section on 7th. Can someone guide me with procedure for getting birth certificate at the earliest? There are chances babies may need nicu, therefore, I need to apply to enrol them into my ADNIC insurance policy. ADNIC will consider reimbursement or direct billing only after babies are enrolled.

Also, does anybody have any exp with babies in nicu and adding them to the insurer?

Thanks

I managed to make some enquiries. Medi-express is about 100 AED cheaper than Baby Steps for a normal 2 day service. If one would like to do all the paperwork on his own , it'd cost within 300 AED including attestation at MOFA. The only issue is the long queues and running around. If one starts at dawn from home, it may help :) This method however may save a good AED 600 if one is looking at twins birth certificate though as baby steps charges AED 1220 for a 24 hours service.

So sorry, I don't. Maybe call them or have a look on their website.

We delayed our notification as our LO didn't have a name for a while, but as soon as we told CH the name, I picked up the notification from them the next day, took my LO with me to Al Baraha, then went to have it stamped at the ministry of health and finished everything in one day. Having the baby with me, and being on my own was hard, but also meant I skipped a lot of queues. Try to get there when they open to save time. Also depending on what passport you need, I know the Brit embassy will issue an emergency passport to leave the country that day, and then you can get a real passport in the uk on the same day to save waiting. Hope that helps :) Thank you. Do you remember how much exactly you needed to pay at Al Baraha in all ?

Hi ladies, yes I delivered at CH and the birth notification was given while I was still there and that was only two days. It is done online, just like attested sick leave certificates. the only thing holding it up would be a qualified person to sign it, such as a physician or medical director.

Don't know why it takes CH so long to give birth notification? I had my babie at Corniche in AD, Al Wasl and MedCare all gave our birth notification the same day or day after.

Hi little_zuzu, If I remember correctly CH issues you a birth notification that you pick up from the hospital after a few days. After you collect that you call baby steps and they will come to your house and pick up the notice, your passports etc and organize your birth certificate...it doesn't take them long at all. Hope this helps edited by Jalapeno on 04/06/2012 My husband wanted to be the man and do it himself with baby no 2, it was only about 100 dhs cheaper than using baby steps and it took 3 days. Baby no 3 he called Baby Steps. edited by starsouthern on 04/06/2012

Thanks Jalapeño. The whole process is clear to me now. I called baby steps. 24 hour quick service costs over AED 1220 for twins. I'm just curious - has anyone gone directly to al Baraha hospital to get the certificates done. If so, how much does it cost? If there is a huge difference in figures, my husband can spend a few hours at Preventive Medicine dept, MOH and MOFA and get this thing done. Pls pour in your suggestions. Thanks. edited by little_zuzu on 04/06/2012

Thanks Sparkly. I'm a bit confused here. After I posted my query here I called CH. Someone on phone told me CH issues a birth notification 5 days after delivery, which I need to take to Al Baraha hospital who will issue birth certificate. Any idea about this?

Hi little zuzu At CH they give you the birth cert before discharge n this is written up based on info you have completed on a form. For this u also need to provide marriage cert and passport copies of mum n dad. After this I gave the documents to baby steps. They do all the PRO work for u and the fees for this part (English n Arabic cert, attested at MOH n MOFA) is very reasonable. I got duplicates of everything too n think the fees amounted to approx 700 AED. It's v convenient when u have a newborn to use a company like this. The whole process took around 3-4 days. Maybe someone else has done it themselves? edited by sparkly on 04/06/2012 edited by sparkly on 04/06/2012
