Hey ladies,

I experienced headaches during my first pregnancy and I'm suffering from them again :(

I really can't remember what I did, if anything, to stop them. I keep thinking maybe I'm hungry or dehydrated so I'm keeping on top of that. Although i have a 13month old girl she has her 2.5 hour naps a day, so i make sure i rest then too but the headaches are still there.

Any suggestions?

TIA xx

My doc advised me to take extra magnesium when my daily headaches started in the first trimester, specifically the brand name is MgVita (150mg Magnesium + Vitamin B6), costing about AED 45. Taking one in the morning and one in the evening, religiously. I was skeptical, but this supplement has worked a treat and even helps my restless legs. I think I may have had one headache since, but that was due to not eating my lunch soon enough. Hope the above helps, although you should check with your doc before taking any extra vitamins. :) edited by Jupiter on 04/09/2013

I was having severe headaches as well, the doctor suggested I drink a lot more water to ensure I'm not dehydrated and also to eat regularly to avoid blood sugar fluctuation. Also, I noticed the days I wore my eye glasses instead of contact lenses it would hurt a lot more, so I switched to wearing only contact lenses for a few days and the headaches stopped!

I'm 40 weeks and was hospitalised with severe headache/migraine last week. They were so bad I was in tears, I called maternity at city and they advised I went to a and e and then they admitted me overnight in labour ward just for observation. Honestly it was like some someone was hitting me constantly for 4 days with an axe in side of head! I could only take panadol which didn't touch the pain! I feel ur pain! Doc said possibly hormonal related! X

Also make sure you are drinking enough water. I need to drink about double what I normally drink to keep them away.

Did you consider trying out an chiropractor? I had severe headaches almost daily during my second pregnancy and chiropractic adjustments were the only thing that truly helped me. Now pregnant with my third it's not as bad but I still try to go for occasional adjustments...also helps with lower back and hip pains. Dr. Pamela Leader from Emirates Chiropractic Clinic specializes in pregnant ladies and babies. She is super gentle. Hope you feel better soon!!! :)

So sorry to hear that! I really hope you feel better, but congrats! I am sure your doctor will remember what you did from the first pregnancy.
