Our visa only took 5 weeks (but that was 3 years ago now). We have had 3 rentals in Dubai - all 3 different landlords accepted 4 cheques. Maybe we've been lucky.... If you need a short term rental I can recommend PK Properties who we used recently between houses while we decided what to do.

Depends on LL Most are now one or two cheques but I have recently secured four again Visa approval should take ten working days Can't help with the letter part to LL though again I imagine it depends on the LL

Anyone? Or do you know who I could contact for some info? Do you think it is worth calling up Betterhomes or the likes for some info? Thanks!

Can someone give me some up to date information on renting property in Dubai please? I have lived in Dubai before, around 4 years ago. Are most landlords still asking for just a one off payment or are there more options now for 2, 3 or even 4 cheques? Will I be able to rent with a letter from my employer stating that my visa is under process....I have been led to believe that my visa may not officially come through until around 10 to 12 weeks after I arrive. Is this normal? I think it tool this long last time round but I worked for a pretty rubbish company who probably made little effort to do anything quickly! I'm going to stay with some friends initially but would like to get into my own place ASAP. An option would be a short term rental for a few months but again would I need my visa or would a visa under process suffice? I have read so many different views on what landlords will and Will not accept so any insights would be great!
