Woke up this morning and thinking about moving to France...

Hi there,

Random question. My children are in the French School system and I just feel a year in France (last minute thought..) may be a great experience for both them and me. We are not French but do have Euro passports.
I just feel like we need a change and it would be great for them to experience it. My questions would be;
Has anyone just moved to France without work before with a family? My husband will stay behind and it'll just be me and the children.
I was thinking the southwest or south. Small town, rent a furnished flat, live simply. School close by... but I am not sure how difficult it is to register, or if schools are full there.
Any French Nationals with thoughts or others who have done such a thing? I understand I may not have listed enough questions but I am seriously wondering how doable it is.

Merci!
dg

instead of uprooting for a year (which is actually fun I think :)) why not spend summers in France? There are families that welcome people just like you what want to immerse themselves in the language and culture.
