Hi Everyone,

I have been offered a job in Dubai to start September 2016. I finished my chemotherapy a year ago to treat my breast cancer and now just need a yearly check (had double mastectomy, so not a mammogram) and tamoxifen tablets daily. Id love to make the move and feel life is for living...but obviously need to be sensible also. Has anyone any experience they can share in a similar situation?

Many thanks :) x

Hi everyone, Thanks so much for your help ! I haven't logged on for a while.... I am in great health, have 4 months of tamoxifen to take with me and medical cover with my new job. I fly out with my son a week today!! Very excited! Love Lou x

Just so you know you can bring my in 6mths worth of your Meds for personal use with a prescription/doctors certificate. Therefore you might be better to just go back to the UK every 6mths. However Meds aside, the treatment here for Breast cancer and check ups is actually very good. Try The American hospital & Dr.Kazim at the Wellwoman clinic

Following on from my comment about good health insurance - my policy was changed this month to a previous company who should know my health history and have just been to get my 3 month supply of medication at the pharmacy three phone calls, waiting forever to get through 'in a queue' being cut off and finally 1 hour ten minutes later the pharmacy had approval to give me my meds. Just the sort of stress you don't want when dealing with BC!

Congratulations on getting through your treatment and the best of luck with your move to Dubai. Medication and check ups are available here but please make sure you have good health insurance that will cover the costs. Good company insurance policies should cover pre existing conditions, but def not all and most personal polices won't cover unless you declare and pay a premium for it to be covered. I'm on Femara not tamoxifen and it costs 1036 AED almost £200 per month. I have good global cover so I choose to go back to uk for my treatment, annual check ups etc and arrange my trips home around them appointments. There are some good breast cancer specialists here so if you choose to have check ups you'll have no trouble finding an expert.

I know people here who had breast cancer here and had their treatment here, so it shouldn't be a problem to get your treatment and check ups. I can't help with where and with whom, as I arrived here after I finished my treatment and I go back home yearly for my annual check ups. When I have a concern in between I just go to my gynecologist and she just refers me to the correct clinic or tests if necessary.
