I'm considering a few mornings a week so it'd need to be one that does part-time, and ideally not too far from Springs. I did see one in the small Spinneys complex behind our house but apparently this is only 3+ :(.

I think I must have looked at between 8 or 9 nurseries. You kind of just get a feel for the nursery once your there. Have to say I never even thought of asking anyone about qualifications or first aid as I assumed that they all would be. For me I wanted somewhere that was clean, looked fun and that the teachers at least looked happy in their jobs. I remember going to one nursery which I actually quite liked. The headmistress was showing us their their sleep room saying that an assistant was always in the room and no child was ever left asleep in the room on their own blah blah blah. Upon opening the door was a little girl asleep to the world and no assistant in sight! Headmistress was not happy as she saw the look on my face. For me as I saw that incident for some reason put me off the nursery completely.

Sorry for hijacking but what makes you decide a nursery is good? What do you look at when you visit one? And also, do you make surprise visits or do you announce you are passing by and would like a tour. Come with me!! and oh Surprise visits all the way:))) I think the first and main priority is safety, I looked at alot, maybe 10. I did some pre arranged visits and some where I just stopped on the off chance. You need to look at a large cross section to get a good idea and feel. Ask plenty of questions about routines, activities, schedule, policies and procedures - first aid etc... qualifications.

Yes, I think you might be right (and I know I'm lazy!). Do many nurseries have waiting lists? I hadn't even considered doing this before now so I haven't a clue what I'm doing but Cecile suggested we put DS in for two or three mornings a week by the time he's one so I'm doing a bit of research now. PS plumie, that's not naughty at all. It's highly recommended for new mums and I wish I'd done it! I got out of my PJs to go walk the dogs with Will and I am now back in them on the sofa while he sleeps :D.

Personally, I think you have to go a little further afield. DS is at Children's Oasis (Al Thanya Road, behind the Burj) and we really like it. They have a lovely nursery room for young babies.

I'll pop past and have a look when I eventually get out of my pyjamas today :D. Ooh - it is such a pyjama day today! Was very tempted to just lie in bed and cuddle with DD the whole day, but that would be very naughty of me ;) Curious to know how you get on, as we want to do the same when she turns 6 months and i am sure there is a waiting list!

I think someone said the other day both the Raffles ones - big Spinneys and the Lakes - charge you full-time fees even if you only want part-time :(. I'd be very happy if that was wrong, though, as we could walk there and back! I forgot about the one by Choithram's. I'll pop past and have a look when I eventually get out of my pyjamas today :D.

I think they are raffles, emaar ones. The one by the big spinneys looks lovely inside, you should have a look. I think they feed them too which is always a bonus!
