City also has underground parking which is free - the entrance is to the side of the main entrance at the front of the building. Word of warning re medication - if you need a prescription filling there and you have limits on your health insurance be wary - I have been charged 5x what I've previously paid elsewhere for one type of medication - and am still trying to speak to someone at the MOH about this. Their pharmacy seems to be extremely expensive in comparison to even American Hospital.

The City Hospital has plenty of parking behind it, and the back of it actually faces on to the DEWA parking lot, but thats usually very full. Actually I usually park at Wafi Residences which is right opposite the Hospital entrance but a lot of people wont know the wafi residences. They are the very modern corner apartment / office building on a corner and has horizontal stripes of white paint and dark glass. I would still park in Wafi and whilst inside Wafi ask for either the Raffles exit (stay in the ac for as long as possible) or ask for the Planet Hollywood exit and City Hospital is a 5 minute walk from there across the road.

Yes - if you were to come out of Wafi and stand in front of the Raffles hotel with your back to the main door, you would see the hospital opposite you across to your left about 300 metres down the road. If you were willing to walk you could park at Wafi and walk across in 5 minutes. The roads are the pain as so many one way streets etc. Keep your eye on that metro bridge as its visible all around Healthcare city and if you follow it, the City H is right up against it.

Health care city has a map: http://www.dhcc.ae/location/ I used to work there and I found the most traffic free straightforward route for me was to go via Dubai Mall as the service lane off SZR is usually back up. I take the high level road (Doha rd) which passes by the Dubai mall. and you turn onto it as you pass the Burj Khalifa metro. Stay in the second left lane and at the end there is a sort of T junction - keep left and the road turns towards Wafi as you can see the pyramids in teh far distance. Then keep right because you are going to take the first right exit which is signposted for Al Wal hospital. You stay on this road all the way to Al Wasl hospital and stay straight as it takes you over the bridge spanning SZR. Keep right and after the bridge you take the first right into Health Care city. Drive straight and City Hospital is in front of you at the next traffic light. You would turn right to find parking behind it but its hard to miss. If you end up in Healthcare city then follow the unfinished metro bridge as City H is actually located right on the metro station under construction. Good luck ! edited by beachymaria on 24/05/2011

Hi speed quen We've had a couple of practice runs from the Springs as we're expecting and hubby is not too great with directions! It is pretty straight-forward. 1. Get onto SZR and stay on until you pass through the tunnel at the end of SZR where all the office towers and hotels are (aka known as world trade centre area). 2. As soon as you come out of the tunnel, merge to the extreme right. Take the exit. You'll see signs for Hatta, Wafi and American Hospital. 3. There is a sneaky exit once you come off SZR which takes you to Zaabeel and Hatta. Don't take this one. 4. Next, you'll have to merge into the left lane and immediately after this, you'll be merging with people coming off an interchange which will be on your right. At this point, you need to get into the right lane because this is your exit. You'll see a sign for various hospitals. You go up a ramp to the right and end up on a major road. Stay in your lane. 5. First exit is for Abu Dhabi/Jebel Ali (this gets you back on the road you were on). Avoid this exit and take the next one instead, the sign says Healthcare City. Stay in the right lane. 6. At the traffic lights turn right, at the next traffic lights turn left. 7. Take the first left, followed by the first right and the road will automatically lead you to City Hospital. Once you have done this drive once or twice you realise how easy it actually is. Good luck!
