I think it actually depends on what you're going to do for work. I'm under my husband's sponsorship however to work as a teacher here I did need to get it attested.

No, i said if you [b'>DONT[/b'> plan on getting your own visa. You can NOT work under your husbands visa, it is illegal. If you want to work, you need your own work visa, and then you would need to have your stuff attested. And no matter what, if you are coming in as husband and wife, and living together, you need you marriage license attested.

If your coming on DH visa, and dont plan on getting your own work visa at any point, then no you won't need it attested. Only need marriage liscense attested.

To be honest, not sure if you need it attested if under your dh's sponsorship but I would probably get it done just in case. It'll be a bigger hassle once you get out here. When I did it 4 years ago, it took about a month. First it goes to Ottawa, then they forward it to the UAE (the first time it was lost so thank goodness I sent a true copy) and then back to you. I would definitely not leave it to the last minute. woops saw your last question - this was what I had received from the UAE consular: Dear madam, You have to send your original CANADIAN document Or notorized copies to: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade(DFAIT) in Ottawa >125 Sussex Drive >Ottawa, ON >K1A 0G2 >Attention: Legalization Section >Tel: 613-995-0119 >Fee = Free of charge Then you have to forward it to our Embassy in Ottawa, or you can instruct the DFAIT to forward it to us: UAE Embassy 45 O'Connor st. Suite 1800 Ottawa, ON K1P 1A4 Attention: Legalization Section Tel: 613-565-7272 ext 224 Fee = CAD 50.00/copy (money order or certified cheque made out to UAE EMBASSY, with a prepaid return envelope) The processing time is 2-4 business days.
