just half an hour ago, managed to put things in order, then going to the in suit bathroom in my bedroom, to find the floor have between 10 to 17 ants wondering around :\:
those little @#$%^&*( just choose the time that I am going to bed to bug me this way.

I can't understand why oh why this place? I don't keep sweets there :\:

sprayed the h*ll out of the can, and closed the bathroom, waiting for them to die, then found couple of them trying to get out from the door, ohhhh this will be a long night.

Thanks chocs and fairycakeyumm, I got the pif paf automatic thing and I can honestly say that I have not seen one ant since. I wasn't sure about the smell at first (although it is much better than the smell of bygone) but I love it now because it seems to be doing the trick. Thanks a lot :) edited by MIRDIFMUMMY on 07/09/2011

I'll pop into Ace and buy this ants bait thing.... they don't live in my bathroom, I managed to get the patience and watched one of them going between the floor and the fitted wardrobe in the main bedroom. do I hope they have a tiny strew or something similar so it can go there.... :\: I'm not against insects at all, I'm against them inside my home :\:

Is the pif paf automatic spray safe to have with children? I really liked the idea of this because we have ants everyday almost and they really get me stressed out. They are in the walls apparently and come out of nowhere just when u are not expecting it! I saw this spray in the union coop and was going to buy it a few times but was unsure about it spraying randomly when I have a DS running about. At moment I use bygone when required. Thank s everyone Yes all I've been using it for a few months..Have two kids n dogs ...u hardly smell it... I still get a few ants but not many as I use to get.

I was having the same problem and getting very fed up of spraying, so I got National Pest Control in and they sprayed inside and outside and I haven't seen an ant for about 3 months. edited by MirdifIngrid on 04/09/2011

Just came back from Ace, and one of the guys that works there told me that although they have Terro, they are not allowed to sell it now - has something to do with licensing, according to him. He said the municipality has had them take it off of their shelves and store it in the back, until the licensing comes through. I think I almost cried when he told me they couldn't sell it to me - these ants are making me crazy :(

I second the Terro liquid ant bait sold in Ace - put it down before we left for the summer (gone 5 weeks) and they're all gone. They also do outside ant bait - if I see any more ants will try that in addition to the indoor stuff.

Liquid ant bait from Terro, sold at Ace. The idea behind the baits is that the ants eat it and bring it back to the nest and therefore kill all the other ants including the queen. We used to have the tiny ants in the kitchen and bathroom and I tried everything, from powder to piff paff and they always came back after a while. Eversince I put out the ant baits, though, the ants have been gone, and as soon as I see one scouting around I put out new baits and the problem is gone. We didn't even see any after coming back after 6 weeks of vacation. I also like the liquid bait because I don"t have pesticide powder flying through the house....

I got a powder safe with kids and pets from the sharjah cooperative and I did see the same in carrefour that is great to get rid of ants and it is quite entertaining at the same time. The powder comes in a green box. Place the box on where you see ants and they will come in take some poison to the nest and more and more will come and help themselves then within a couple of days they are all gone nest destroyed. I got rid of these in our villa in Sharjah, now in our new place none...but I am ready for them.

I've just stood in the kitchen by the sink looking at a hoard of the little blighters - and they're coming in via the wall plug sockets, trekking down the kettle's electrical cable and then having a party on the worktop - the same is going on at the other end of the kitchen where the fridge is plugged in! I am now going to rain on their parade! All my wallplugs are now going to get a good but careful spray, and the talcum powder is coming out again - they hate that and it creates a great barried to stop them getting into kitchen cupboards.

Go to Spinneys and buy the Pif Paf can's that you put in automatic air freshners that spray every few minutes. Works wonders and keep the blighters away.

DDs and I have been away for 3 months and come back Thursday night to find the same - all over the desk, dressing tables and bathrooms, as well as in the kitchen - my icing sugar pot in the cupboard was crawling. DH hadn't noticed apart from the desk. They're tiny little brown ones, apart from a few humungous ones on the kitchen floor that come in under the kitchen door. Having met a couple of friends who've been here all summer it appears to be a widespread problem - but again, why the desk - there's never (well OK not in the last 3 months hee hee) food on it - it's been cleared of all paperwork and cleaned, we clean them up and they appear again from nowhere! I'm sat at the desk now and thre's half a dozen or so having a party by my laptop!
