Which side of the plane should you sit on to get the best view of Palm Jumeirah, The World, Burj Khalifa and all that? Whenever I've flown back from Bangkok, I remember that the plane comes into Dubai, then does a U-turn to get over Mirdiff, then land. But for the life of me, I can't remember which side gives you the best view of these.

:);)

So it could be either. that sounds nice, LB. I've never landed from that direction.

It usually works out that if it's a night landing you come over the water, if it's a day landing over the desert. I guess this has somwthing to do with wind patterns and it's just what i have noticed so may be wrong. If you are landing from the water, the right side of the plane is best. From the desert the left side. I just had an amazing day time landing sitting on the right side though, could not see the big buildings but the mountains are stunning from above.

The only thing that I can remember is that you go out over the water, then do almost a full U-turn to come back in. The reason I want to know is that I have a friend coming here from either Delhi or Mumbai and her flight is in the afternoon, so she'll be able to see everything.

I think they take different flight paths depending upon the time air direction etc but I may be wrong
