I just need to have a bit of a vent. I have just found out I am pregnant and feel shocking! Sick morning noon and night, feeling exhausted and have an under 2 to run around after all day. I have a shocking headache today and cant take anything but paracetamol which hasnt even touched it. Peppa is my saviour so far!!

The worst thing is, as I am so early I havent told anyone yet so keeping it to myself is pretty tough when Im running to the bathroom every five mins. It is really getting to me now and Im only a few weeks in. Im not too keen on tellin my OBGYN as I am not covered by the insurance until December and I know here they take drastic measures to make money such as hospitalizing people!

And morning/afternoon/evening/night sickness remedies would be a massive help. The ginger thing isnt working :(

Thanks everyone for your advice. Hopefully I'll find one of these that works. HAK...I was worried about losing weight, I take it its not unsafe if you lose weight during pregnancy? Your body will still give baby what it needs? I only seem to manage to eat Salt and vinegar crisps and was worried that I was giving my baby a terrible start in life! well my gynae told me to eat whatever i can. she did prescribed protein powder for me which i am still taking. otherwise only the smell of potatoes are fine for me.i am thinking the same thing...poor baby chips, sugar and potatoes right from start ;)

Hi dear try the sailor bands for sea sickness available at pharmacies.. dont worry you will feel better soon. these bands recommended here have really helped me alot, along with sipping sweet lemon water throughout the day is helping me. also i found that by eating grapes one at a time brings on less nausea :) all the best dear...i am still 2 weeks far from my first trimester to end.

HAK...I was worried about losing weight, I take it its not unsafe if you lose weight during pregnancy? Your body will still give baby what it needs? I only seem to manage to eat Salt and vinegar crisps and was worried that I was giving my baby a terrible start in life! Always keep an eye on your weight gain or loss, but never obsess over it unless you're getting other, obviously related symptoms - all kinds of things happen in pregnancy and it all balances out... and to be honest, what advice can they give - if you're losing weight because you feel so nauseous you can't eat more than a nibble at a time, it's pointless saying "eat more"... and if you're gaining "too much" (wtf?!) whilst eating a normal, balanced, healthy diet, then any Dr who suggests "eat less" needs their head checked! As for what you eat... well, personally, I would avoid high salt stuff, but I'm coming at if from a healthy-lifestyle point of view - my diet is normally healthy and well-balanced and I'm of an average, healthy weight with no medical conditions, so eating burgers for a month or two wouldn't be toooo bad... which would be a different story if I were already diabetic, overweight or had a history of high blood pressure. Your body will look to itself and the baby - there's no question about it. It's exceptionally efficient that way. There's also a school of thought that argues that cravings are the body's way to balance out nutrient deficiencies - I couldn't get enough fruit in my pg with DD, literally eating 500g-1kg of it every day... with DS it was less pronounced, but definitely erring on the protein side. As for giving your baby the best start, well, yes, in an ideal world... but back in the real world, what happens, happens - with me, it was Christmas, I had miscarried in early December and had no idea I was pg with DD, and I spent the best part of 10 days in France drinking vast quantities of wine. She turned out fine...

The sailor bands were the only thing that helped me during my 2nd pregnancy, I had them on both wrists and even slept with them on. However they didn't help much during my 3rd pregnancy!!! They are worth trying, I hope you feel better soon

I think it just depends on what you 'feel' like eating. My biggest suggestion though, is that you keep on grazing regularly, for me this is what makes the difference, I just have to have what I feel like I can stomach. My last pregnancy, I was all about stodgy things, breads, pasta, potatoes etc, this pregnancy I have been into fruit and vegetables - just completely different. Good luck!

Ginger ale and bread sticks also worked for me. The tablets are safe, my gynae prescribed them, I don't recall the name though but it helped when my morning sickness was chronic sometimes.

I am now 13 weeks and felt disgusting from 6 to 11 weeks. I started taking Navidoxine, you can buy the tablets over the counter safe during pregnancy, my gynae said its 100% fine. That helped me sooo much and it's not expensive less than 20aed per box. Just another option..... Good luck, I know how awful it is :( edited by Pingu on 27/09/2011

breadsticks... keep nibbling. I guess dipping them in hommous or something equally yummy is not an option? :) Ill start munching, I feel better when I eat if I can keep it down but the thought of any food just turns my stomach to jelly. Hoping this passes VERY soon! Oh, I couldn't eat anything but the blandest of carbs... breadsticks, bread and maybe some mashed potatoes if I really pushed the boat out! Cooking for DD was a [i'>real [/i'>challenge! Lost 6kg in my first 14 weeks of pg!

Drink fesh green coconut WATER.( not bottled, or frozen, or canned) . Spinneys , Waitrose, even Lulu sells fresh coconuts ( they have to be green). Works like magic. The colder the better. (its NOT the coconut milk but the water that forms inside the coconut). Note: they sell it peeled ( so you wont see the green on it) so ask around. They are wrapped in plastic. edited by MomOfTwins on 26/09/2011

Accupuncture really helped me! It's not for everyone, but I was desperate and glad that I did it.
