Hi Ladies, Im thinking about registering my children here for next year. I know there are a few threads asking about feedback but I was hoping to get some specific answers to some queries, namely:
1. So far, do you feel the teaching staff are 'on the ball'....do they come across as experienced and very knowledgeable ?
2. What is the mix of students like in classrooms....ie: are the children predominately native English speaking, fluent English speaking or a big mix of all sorts?
3. Are children with SEN catered to adequately? Is there an actual Special Needs Department (it doesn't say on the web site).
4. What are the average class sizes?
5. Are their TA's in every year or just up to year 2?
6. Was there a formal assessment for year 1 - 3 students or a just meet and chat type of thing?

Thank you so much for any and all replies ;)

Hi Delvin, I have a child at this school and can only really pass opinion on their teacher. 1) I would say the teacher is very experienced and definitely on the ball, great communication with the parents too. 2) I would say the children are predominantly native english speaking/ or fluent english. There is definitely a mix of nationalities but it works. 3) Don't know about this sorry. I know the teacher picks up on minor niggles and they have specialist assistance to help children catch up or if they need more focus. 4) Average class sizes depends on the year group I think. I think it differs from year to year. My childs class is 24. 5) I think TAs up to year 2 and then I think they may share them between classes after that. 6) My child had no formal assessment but we were asked for a very detailed previous year school report and then just did meet and chat format, however it may be different if residing here as we were moving to Dubai at the time of enrolement. We are really happy with the impression of the school so far and the teachers I have met are very committed and experienced, with a variety of teachers from some newbies to Dubai to experienced teachers both in the UK and UAE. Hope this helps

I cant help really except to say that WIS silicon Oasis is based on the same model as the original Wellington and they have an excellent acheivement centre ie helping ALL children to acheive including those with identified needs.
