Awww, shucks Beebers! :) I just figure if I can share tips here and there, then people can share with their friends and eventually it will help people travel better, and make it easier for all of us, hehe. I kinda like giving advice where I can, don't mind at all...

Update for the flying mums & dads. Got to have a look recently and the basinette seats are: 6D&G, 7A&K, 21B&J, 21D&G and I *think* 22D&G (but have to double check this one) there are no bassinettes in the 'couple seats' which are always E&F seats. So you may be better of requesting for a G&J seats arrangement in a bassinette row if you want to be able to reach across to each other.

How did you go? Had a look last time I got the chance and it seems that row 20 in the middle does have the space for a basinette... however those seats are D&G seats which are on the aisle and not the ones that you can reach out and touch each other... HTH

Thank you SkyKitty, I'll look at Seat Guru. DD is just a little peanut so I don't think she'd be over the limit. On the way here she was one month old and slept the entire time. I think we'll be dealing with a different situation on the way home but she's still an excellent sleeper so i'm counting on that. Her brother's will also have their own seats so once she falls asleep I can always slip her next to her 5 year old brother when he's sleeping.

Try SeatGuru, they usually will tell you at the top of the seat map what kind of seat it is (lay flat, recliner, etc) and which rows are bassinettes. To be honest most 1 year olds are usually too big/heavy for them anyway.... if she's wriggly it might be worth booking a seat if you are able to... Unless I'm reading it wrong, this page [url=http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/special_travel_needs/services_for_children/child_fares/index.jsp'>link[/url'> seems to inply if you are going between two countries, the child must have a seat whether it sits in it or not, but that sounfs a bit strange to me. Must be the wording. What do you ladies think? maybe I'm just tired lol edited by SkyKitty on 25/04/2012

Not to totally hijack this thread but does anyone know if they do the bassinet in business class in a Delta 777 that has the total lay flat seats? We are traveling home with DD who will be one and it would be nice to have her in something besides my arms for 15 hours.

to be honst I have never seen one in row 20, I'll have a look again next time I'm there but if there are only 4 seats, I would say they are at row 6 and row 22 or 23.... will see if I can find it in my books anywhere....

Just noticed michamen's post below saying there is a bracket on the back of the seat in row 20. Am not travelling until July, but there are only 4 bassinet seats in business, so want to make sure I am definitely seated in one. Thanks so much for the info everyone!

When are you travelling? If I can get there to have a look at it I will, as I said they don't tend to get used much so good for me to refresh anyway :) Can't recall seeing any in 21 unless you mean 23A/K??

Thanks SkyKitty! Normally I book the 'sweetheart' seats for me and my son, but now have another baby to travel with. I am booked in row 21 which is described as a bassinet seat, but it is a back row, so just wondering how that works...

Here's some pics I hope will help give you an idea of what the cabin looks like. It's quite hard to explain to someone that has never seen it. As mentioned, every second middle row has a 'pair' of seats with a privacy divider that can be lowered if you are travelling with the one next to you. The crew refer to these as "sweetheart" seats so it might help to know this if trying to explain the seats you want. If there are four of you with seats, it's easy to try book two rows of these seats (they are always E & F seats) the ones in the other rows are on the aisle but separated by the minibars in between (D & G seats) All A/B and J/K seats are separate and better for solo travellers or people who don't mind not being able to talk to each other. If there are two of you or three of you, better to try for perhaps two Sweetharts and then the closest seat across the aisle, or a B & D or G & J seat (hope that makes sense) However as stated the basinettes are at bulkheads. So say if you were at 6D you might want to try get 7A for your other half so they're across the aisle, not 6G so you're separated by the center console. I looked online for some pics so I don't have to take any myself as I might not get a chance to Cabin Rear View [url=http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&biw=1024&bih=545&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=8Dit71nwxODBxM:&imgrefurl=http://www.44john.com/voyagers/up-in-the-air/&docid=X9rIfBEAROfDQM&imgurl=http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2681/4283972583_9be26bb42f.jpg&w=500&h=375&ei=Ah6YT-yxG4GSOq6bncIG&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=555&vpy=208&dur=2355&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=156&ty=63&sig=104499905929043272656&page=3&tbnh=159&tbnw=204&start=21&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:21,i:148'>link[/url'> 6D, you can see the centre console where the basinette sits. To be honest I've never seen it used, but there is an extra support base fitted first that the basinette sits on. I believe it may sit just across the aisle, I'll have to have a look when I'm next in that cabin to be sure [url=http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&biw=1024&bih=545&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=9u5hZtYDzUyNxM:&imgrefurl=http://www.ausbt.com.au/do-bulkhead-seats-really-give-you-extra-legroom-on-a-plane&docid=Ve9QjqPB2ah-CM&imgurl=http://www.ausbt.com.au/photos/view/maxsize:467,622/4ed80a8faee8484a8f703f01767f2254-second-cabin-bulkhead-2.JPG&w=467&h=622&ei=Ah6YT-yxG4GSOq6bncIG&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=265&sig=104499905929043272656&page=4&tbnh=166&tbnw=115&start=33&ndsp=13&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:33,i:154&tx=71&ty=41'>link[/url'> Top-down view of seats [url=http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&gbv=2&biw=1024&bih=545&tbm=isch&tbnid=K30WtkTZmenh-M:&imgrefurl=http://www.emirates.com/english/flying/our_fleet/emirates_a380/business_class/full_flat_seats.aspx&docid=jLB4WRbOT5usvM&imgurl=http://content.emirates.com/english/images/4_full-flat-seats_tcm233-349584.jpg&w=545&h=320&ei=UB6YT9XVBpCgOtHt_LwG&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=688&vpy=200&dur=3251&hovh=172&hovw=293&tx=209&ty=57&sig=104499905929043272656&page=1&tbnh=153&tbnw=239&start=0&ndsp=8&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0,i:110'>link[/url'> Another view of 6G/6D [url=http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&gbv=2&biw=1024&bih=545&tbm=isch&tbnid=-edTnd3jQBg2gM:&imgrefurl=http://biztravelguru.com/photos/airline__aircraft_photos/Business-Class-Seat-on-Emirates-A380-Aircraft.aspx&docid=D_UluiX0PHoywM&imgurl=http://biztravelguru.com/photos/airline__aircraft_photos/images/957/425x283.aspx&w=425&h=283&ei=UB6YT9XVBpCgOtHt_LwG&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=262&sig=104499905929043272656&page=4&tbnh=167&tbnw=231&start=32&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:32,i:187&tx=161&ty=54'>link[/url'> 'Sweetheart" (centre) seats E&F [url=http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&gbv=2&biw=1024&bih=545&tbm=isch&tbnid=K3I3yiJk6u_VMM:&imgrefurl=http://www.luxist.com/photos/emirates-a380/952114/&docid=yLgdD1WvAzuCIM&imgurl=http://www.blogcdn.com/www.luxist.com/media/2008/07/82085934_10.jpg&w=1000&h=681&ei=UB6YT9XVBpCgOtHt_LwG&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=365&sig=104499905929043272656&page=2&tbnh=159&tbnw=201&start=8&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:8,i:127&tx=35&ty=77'>link[/url'> Hope this helps!!

Thanks uniquename, that would be great. I am having trouble visualising! My email is [email protected] I am travelling with my 4 year old son, so currently have him in a seat across the aisle. No other option I guess.

Hi Redleaf, I was thoroughly confused by this too. The two seats in the centre of the row alternate by being next to each other ( with small partition) and apart from each other with a centre console/minibars. The bassinet sits in the rows where the seats are apart from each other and the bassinent sits on the console. It means if you are travelling with others, it's hard to talk with them because the bassinet is in the way and if it's a stranger, the bassinet encroaches a bit on their space. Also, the seats along the sides are staggered - they are not in a straight line with the two in the middle. Because of this confusion, our travel agent sat us in the strangest configuration with our seven year old son in the seat in front of me and some poor man next to me and the baby and my husband along the side away from me. The man next to me kindly moved but the bassinet was between my son and me so if he needed help with something, I had to get out of my seat and go around to his side. Edited to hopefully make more sense! edited by uniquename on 25/04/2012

I always thought the bassients were in front of you attached to the wal. If there is another seat behind yu i cannot imagine they would fix a bassinet behind you if that makes sense Perhaps if you look at the picture of the aircraft online and its layout it may help or call the contact centre :-) edited by louisedvs on 25/04/2012

Thanks for the replies. So I am in row 21, which is a back row. So where is the bassinet positioned? Behind me on the wall?

I tried to call them, but the seats that show as "bassinet seats" are blocked on their system? Just to confirm, are bassinet seats usually the 1st row only? or can they be in between rows? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If they are "blocked" then normally they would be unblocked and allocated to a passenger with an infant. If they are saying that they are "booked" that would mean that other passengers have got there first. If you haven't already, ask for this clarification. If it is that they are blocked and need to be requested through another deartment they should do this. As for where they on an aircraft that all depends on the airline and the particular aircraft operating.

Hi Can anyone explain the bassinet locations on the A380 in business class? It looks like I have a bassinet seat but the seat is in a back row in front of a bulkhead area, if that makes any sense! So is the bassinet behind me? Have attempted asking Emirates but get the equivalent of a blank look over the phone! Thanks in advance
