I would recommend you get a second opinion with an ENT. Dr Baghat is wonderful and located on Al Wasl Rd. My DD went through this for 2 years and was on Augmentin just about every month. I tried homeopathy and osteopathy and it didn't help. Also all the usual supplements like Echinacea, Vit C etc. To cut a long story short, she had her tonsils & adenoids removed and had grommets put in her ears. She has rarely been sick for the last 2 years since her surgery & all I can say, is, I wish I had not wasted time with all the other treatments. I don't know any drs in Dubai Marina, but I take my girls to Dr Khan at Cooper Clinic in Um Sequiem, Al Wasl Rd - so not too far from Dubai Marina. Hope you get her sorted out quickly. It's really demoralizing when your child is always sick!

I totally understand what you're going through. For the last 6 months my DS who is just over 2 years old, has had colds, fever and dreadful coughs. Just a few days ago I finally had all the tests done in case its an allergy to something, waiting for the results now. Its scary when they are sick so often, mine is better for a week then back to being sick, its a cycle that never seems to end. Sometimes he coughs so much and so violently that he vomits, which is another issue because out comes all his food and water, almost every day! Just an hour ago he did this, and now I can still hear him cough, which means another sleepless night for my poor little baby. I just don't know what to do when he coughs throughout the night :(

Sorry to hear of your little one's ill health. My children also sufferred on and off throughout our time in Dubai. My son was the worst for colds and ear infections...we now know he has quite a few food intolerances. Since drastically reducing those (none 100% cut out) he is a MUCH more healthy boy. Perhaps start a food diary and see if you can find a pattern? Dairy and wheat can be particularly nasty when it comes to ear-nose-throat problems.

Hi AnonDubai, Thanks soo much on your advice about the tablet. Glad to know that your DD is doing better with this. My DD doesnt wheeze so the docs havent diagnosed her to be asthmatic as yet. I guess this medicine also helps in persistent cough. Finges crossed!!! Frizzybusy -- can totally understand what you must be going through. Really hope our DD's recover and grow stronger. Shjbelle-- many thanks on the vit c bit..will try that also.

Hi Coolgemini My DD also 4 yrs has been on and off with cold, cough, ear infection and growing pains. Paed. said shewill grow out of it but am just so sick and tired of her being ill and trips to the doc which costs and arm and leg I was told that she was a premature baby and thats probaly why she often gets ill ( not sure how true that is). Though she has been well up till the Easter holidays and now she back at school she already been off school twiice. Like your DD, my DD loves the water too and everytme she has a splashpool day she comes back with a cold, runny nose and a cough that will take months to shift. So I just hope our DD grows out it. Sorry have no advice about the .SINGULAIR ,, Hope your DD feels better soon x

Hello. My three year-old has been on Singulair for three months now and it has definitely changed her life. She has not had any major illnesses or doctor's visits in more than two months so it has been great for us. She was also constantly getting sick and taking antibiotics. However, my DD was diagnosed with asthma because every time she'd get sick, she'd wheeze horribly and it would block her lungs. Is your DD wheezing? I understand that Singulair is for asthma patients and I have also been told that asthma cannot be diagnosed until after the age of 2. I am not a doctor, though, so please check with your own to see if Singulair is really what your DD needs. Singulair needs to be taken daily for at least 6 months so it is not something to be taken lightly.

My lill girl( 4 years old) has had consistent bouts of cold n cough ever since she was 15 months old. Back in London she would start off with cold, cough and then the dreadful ear pain would set in. I think my poor baby has had enough amox/augmentin to get immune to them. The docs back in UK said its common for babies to get ear infections once a month bcoz of the freezing climate. After moving to Dubai the ear infections has definitely gone down but whats set in the persistent bouts of cough...Starts at Viral Fever and the cough just lingers n lingers... Am sooo very upset and perplexed on what must be done to help improve her immunity and resistance. She loves water but cant swim. I have even tried homeopathy but i guess its not that helpful. Now her doc has suggested that we try SINGULAIR paed chewable tablets!!! Have any other parents tried this tablet ??? She hasn't been diagnosed as asthmatic but am soo worried on where this would lead!!! She's a lovely girl but as parents we are worried sick about her health :( :(.Everyone tells me that as she grows her immunity would develop but i guess i am just freaking out a bit more !!! any suggestions/advice on what i can try and do to help her gain resistance/immunity. thanks
