Help!!, background info is that my h and I are British, his ex is French and currently lives with her daughter in France. Ex would like daughter (aged 14) to come and live with us in Dubai for a year.

We're struggling as we don't speak French and the school isn't very helpful with information and have said they won't give it until/if the daughter is accepted. We've completed the application and handed it in along with AED 500. What would be useful to know is what happens next, if she is accepted what are the fees and do the yearly fees all have to be paid upfront or by term.

Other costs, school bus, uniform books. Would be very grateful for any information at all, am sure its all on the website of the school, but it is of course all in French (think I need to do a crash course in French to be honest).

Ok so after looking in the website I finally found the prices but they are for the 2012-2013 school year so they might have increased since then, it's 850 dirhams per month and per child. edit: that the bus prices of course edited by painauchocolat on 28/05/2013

I don't understand, if they accept her she shouldn't go on a waiting list, it's either she's accepted or she's not. If she is you will have to pay 5 500 dhs ( that you can redeem when you pay the first trimester) For the uniform I cannot help you as it will apparently be effective next september but nobody from the school confirmed it as yet. For the fees it depends on the grade she'll be in next september, you will pay in 3 times 6ème-5ème-4ème 32 250 dhs 3ème 34 500 dhs I don't know the price for the bus but I will try to find out for you. The books can be ordered either in France before she comes, or at culture and co (a librairy that is near the school)

Thank you both, am also highly embarrassed that as h's daughter is French neither of us has taken the time to learn the language. It's Aflec that we've applied to, handed everything in yesterday and they said that we should hear in two weeks if she is accepted or not and then after that she will still have to go on a waiting list. We just don't want to give up her current school place in France until we know she is definitely accepted here. We're living in Motorcity, currently just the two of us and one pampered cat, so it will be quite an adjustment.
