Sorry - sad story in the UK papers that makes me so angry. Poor old ex-post office worker ( i.e. not rich) devoted her life to charities and had 27 standing orders to pay various ones.
She was the person in UK who sold poppies for Poppy Day the longest number of years in UK.
At 92 she found her finances could not carry on giving to so many charities and cancelled some.
They then bombarded her with endless letters and phone calls trying to get her to continue payments.. The last straw was she sent money in an envelop (which of course was foolish -- but at 92...) to someone in need and it got stolen. Sadly she went over at Clifton. Many charities are also big businesses now sadly - though they also do good work. Hope they learn a thing or two from this tragedy.

Yes really sad, what an exemplary life of dedication, too few people left like that these days. Her story is making headlines here in the UK and the PM has expressed concern at the way charities operate. Lets hope this dear old lady's struggle will bring about appropriate change. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-32748923
