I would be interested to know which e book stores everyone is shopping from, i have found Kobo and Amazon, any others that are good? I don't use kindle. I only use iBook. What I do is buy eBooks in souq.com but there's not much book to see there. So I contacted one of the eBook seller in souq ([email protected]) and I will request her any book and she will sell it to souq for me to buy. It's very easy. after the payment, she will send it to me via email, I will open my email in my ipad and will also download the attachment there. It will automatically opened and saved in my iBook.

Thanks i'm away! Only because i have a UK CC, but what if your don't? The whole situation is quite simply ridiculous! It's not ridiculous at all. Apple has digital publishing and copyright issues to contend with, meaning that some items (mostly songs, movies, TV programmes and iBooks) cannot be sold in some regions, and it also needs to protect itself as well as possible against credit card fraud, which is why it's a lot stricter than some other sites. Amazon is the same as regards rights, you don't have total freedom to buy any e-books, it depends on which Amazon store you are using and where your credit card is registered. The official Apple support site has instructions about how you [url=http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534'>set up an App Store account without a credit card[/url'>. It's not difficult.

For future information which may help others, to set up an APP you have to have a CC registered in the country setting to access you can not just use a UAE CC and set the country to a different one. For I Tunes you can use a Gift voucher or set up with out a CC. But you need the app to set up Kindle etc. I would be interested to know which e book stores everyone is shopping from, i have found Kobo and Amazon, any others that are good?

Yes, there's nothing stopping anyone setting up multiple iTunes accounts in different countries. If you want to buy stuff, then you either need to have a credit card with a billing address in that specific country, *or* you can use iTunes Gift Cards, which are widely sold on eBay etc. Gift Cards work worldwide, and they are a neat way of getting around the credit card problem. Buy a Gift Card in the UAE and you can use it on the US iTunes or App Store.

Thanks that helps but even on PC with the thingy it won't play ball. You can just change your country of registration, I think, without even having to put in cc details or buy anything - at least, I've done that for my iPod, a long time ago, IIRC.

With credit card information, I regularly change mine (between Aussie and UAE) on my itunes if I am ordering apple items from the apple store to my shop and ship. So far haven't had any trouble. Maybe try another credit card if you have one. I use my mother's address in Australia as my physical address for my itunes account for everyday use, eg. apps and songs etc. For the second suggestion. You plug your ipad into the computer. Open itunes. It will have an icon on the left hand side (same as when you first set up your ipad to connect to itunes on first use). Highlight your ipad, using the menu on the left side, it will say itunes store, click and when in the store, click on apps. Search and buy your preferred apps. Back to highlighting/clicking on your ipad, then click on the apps tab to the right/centre part of the screen, make sure the new apps are ticked that you want to download to your ipad, then hit the Apply button (I think that is what it is called) on the bottom right hand side. Maybe as well try the address changes in your itunes account or different credit card and see if that helps. Sometimes too it can be an ip address issue, so a vee pee en can help. Having said that, haven't ever had an ip address issue with itunes though. More common with kindle downloads

Mine is set to my Australian itunes account details and works fine. Enter info under settings App Store on your iPad. for the kindle app I have my country settings (on the amazon page) set to the US. Have been able to download both apps and kindle ebooks. You could also try plugging your iPad into your pc/laptop and downloading apps directly to iTunes and then synching Trouble is you can set to another country but have to provide cc information that links back to UAE, will look at second suggestion, thanks. Please could you explain futher how to do this? edited by QF2011 on 28/07/2011

why can't you access the applications? maybe you should try to change your itunes country to US? I love iBooks. sometimes i buy ebooks to souq.com. I have this one seller, i think her name in souq was iLuveLfenLied. I used to request ebooks from her. I will ask her to get me some ebooks and she will sell it in souq to format compatible to ipad.:) Because it's set to the UAE!! that's my point.
