I have been for the last 2 years - the first time I was expecting the traffic to be an absolute nightmare so we set off very early but the organisation (unusually for this place) was fantastic and there was hardly any queue to get into the car parks or out again at night - however you do have to have a car park pass which I think is issued if you buy a certain number of tickets. If you don't have a car park pass I don't know if there is anywhere nearby that you can park. There are park and rides from some places along SZ Rd I think. Having said that, my dad comes to visit for the F1 and is a massive fan so we usually get there early in the day to watch all of the non F1 races as well. Not sure whether it is worse close to the F1 race. It also depends which car park you are in and how far away it is from the circuit because some are a 5 minute walk and other are 10 mins on a shuttle bus.

We went last year and drove ourselves from Dubai each day (had the 3 day tickets, plus Pit Lane Tour day). A taxi would be very expensive there and back and there is lots of parking - they tell you which area you have to park in. We got there early as they had lots of autograph sessions with the drivers and the queues got very long. There were not many people there early tbh, esp. the first day or 2 - mostly people started arriving an hour or 2 before the races started as I remember....they have other stuff going on there such as little shows, the autograph sessions as mentioned, etc... edited by chizz on 10/10/2011

Hi Everyone I just want to find out if anyone went to the abu dhabi grand prix last year. Is it better to drive yourself or to take a taxi. How many hours before the race is a good time to leave dubai so that we don't miss the start?
