Don't think so exile. But you could give them a call on 04 3422179. I rang them first about the feathers and explained what I needed them for so they knew I was looking for big strong ones. They were very helpful. The name of the Shop is White Star Wasco. Thanks TFT!!

I've actually been looking for large ostrich feathers - the really long wide ones, really soft and fine - but in white - any chance they had them there?

Oh, just popped back in to give you an update and realised there are 2 new posts I didn't see. Uary thank you for your kind offer, but I've actually managed to find some! We went to Beach Centre on the weekend and they had all sorts of feathers there! I bought a couple of pheasant feathers and a bag of smaller, but perhaps wider ones just in case the pheasant feathers were too narrow. Haven't made the quill yet. That craft shop is brilliant and I will definitely be returning on a regular basis I suspect. Just wanted to pop back in and say thank you to everyone who contributed. Oh, and kereeble - thanks for the pointer to DARC. I didn't know it existed. Now I am going to try and take my kids there or talk to the school about an excursion. What an amazing woman!

hi Fairybread, how many do you need? I have some (3 pcs) If you want I can give it to you but you need to pick it up here in Al Quoz Ind 3 near Times Square.

you should be able to buy one (or maybe a bag?) at the costume/craft store in Beach Center mall (where Zaks is). I think there are two shops on the ground level and one upstairs.

Or you could go to PoshPaws . My dds picked up some big feathers from there, think they were swan feathers. Anyway, they were really strong. They also have peacocks, turkeys, ostriches, emus.......;)

My DS has to do a project for school on the history of communication. He has chosen to research and present on quill pens (up to his eyeballs in Harry Potter at the moment). As part of the project he needs to make a model...the obvious choice is a working quill pen. Does anyone know where I might find a good strong feather long enough to make into a quill? I'm assuming I'll be able to get a pot of ink from an art supply shop, but the feather has me stumped. I've called Craftland and they have nothing. So, short of raiding the Sheikh's collection of peacocks (and I haven't entirely written off this idea), I really have no other ideas. Oh, and he has only a week or so to finish the project. Anyone got any suggestions?
