Well fortunately I was spared months/year of agonising attacks. Mine erupted 2am one morning, thought I was having a heart attack! Taken in, and out it came. No sign of stones just a badly diseased GB. I stayed in a few days more than necessary but that was due to a heart complaint aggravated by the sleepy medicine... other than that recovery was fairly quick and you can hardly see the scars unless you know they are there... Technology is amazing, so I would fret not.....

Oh the joys of Gallbladder issues.. after many month sof suffering i had mine out last year at MedCare hospital Safa park best thing i ever did, in surgery for a few hours but had key hole (took me a while to wake up) have 4 scars two under breast area one side of abdomen and 1 inside belly button, was out the next day no complications except a bit sore for about a week, have never felt better, there are certain things i cant eat though now as it makes me throw up anything too fatty and i am vomitting (nice) but i suppose its a blessing means i dont eat anything too fatty (occasionally). Good luck you will feels miles better after having it removed.

I had mine done in the UK over 9 years ago and have never looked back! I had huge stones, and it had also stuck to the liver a bit, they had to take a slice of that too and they still managed to get it keyhole! I have an extra wee scar from that but that is all, very quick recovery, was back at work in under 3 weeks, I dont take general anesthetics very well.

Dr Mathias removed mine at Welcare about 4yrs ago and havent looked back since. Lovely man, very matter of fact and to the point. Welcare process and staff were amazing and I was in 7am Monday and out 12noon the following day. I have 3 small scars and my gall bladder was packed with stones, one of which was large. Even if the stones are big, I believe they can "blast" them into smaller pieces before removing therefore keeping the scars to a minimum. My scars are not that noticeable and I dont mind them. Im never wandering around showing that part of my body off anyway. Go for it, be confident in Dr Mathias abilities and you will soon feel a new woman!

don't worry. the years have passed. things are different now, it will be fine. Guess i was hoping that i could have the stone stuck in the duct and the gall bladder out at the same time but now not so sure :(

Had mine out in the Rashid Hopsital many years ago, and with stones stuck in my bile duct and my liver in failure (so they told me) I was rushed in and had emergency surgery, and have a scar from my cleavage to my belly button. and 2 more scars on the side from the massive drains. They said they could not do a side cut, as time was of the essence. anyway it was a long time ago, and things have improved, both at the Rashid Hospital and medically in general. these days it should be a breeze. Good Lord were they butchers or surgeons? What did they open you up to have a looksee whilst they were at it?

I had it done 2 years ago, not here though ! I also had a stone stuck in the bile duct, (agonising!) I had one procedure to remove the stone from the bile duct and then went back a week later to have my gallbladder removed. I had it done by keyhole surgery, overnight in hospital and a quick recovery. Good Luck

Hi DH couldnt have key hole due to the number and position of the stones. The surgery took a couple of hours and he has a scar on his side (i call it his erroll flynn rapier scar). He had to have a couple of drains put in for the bile and something else (i forget) he is much older than me but did make an amazing recovery and just being able to eat again it was well worth it. In an ideal situation they were talking about a week in hospital. the relief of the symptoms (recurring pancreatitis and trips in ICU) by having the surgery made an amazing difference to him and our whole family. hth it certainly does thank you so much
