Hi Ladies,

Thinking of ordering the Macbook Air from the US apple site and then using 'shop and ship' service with Aramex to get it here to the UAE, Although I will have to pay 5% tax on the overall price and 90dhs custom duty as well as 41dhs for half a kilo ( So I understand ) it still works out cheaper than the UK apple site and the shops here!!

I was wondering if anyone has used this Aramex service to ship any Apple products, Laptops or even any electical items, did they get here OK? Would you reccomend the service?

Thank you!

You may find that your plan is thwarted... several people (including us!) who have tried to order stuff from the US Apple store giving their Aramex address had their orders cancelled a day or two later. The reason given in the cancellation email was that they were aware that the address we'd given was for a forwarding company, and their online store policy is that they do not ship to such addresses. On the other hand, other people say they have had no problems, so all you can do it is try it... We just reordered and had the iPad sent to friends of ours in the USA, who then forwarded it to our Aramex address.

the only advice i would give was i ended up buying lots of things which weren't very expensive say under AED 200 in the UK and having them shipped as it was cheaper than buying them in Dubai however after i had paid the postage the amount worked out the same as it would have been to buy in Dubai. Having said this it is a great service.

Hi yes i have used the aramex shop and ship many times and i found it relatively quick. Although the postage charge was quite high it was well worth it and you can track it constantly edited by Bracey777 on 12/07/2011
