Hi

We land new in Dubai & at Arabian Ranches mid August, with 2 children - we will be spending the 1st couple of days unpacking our stuff etc...... will we be able to get anywhere to eat in AR? Just we will not have cooker or microwave for 1st few days until we can get one sorted from local shop or dubizzle? Do Spinney's open at normal times in Ramadan? Sorry daft questions, but like to be organised!

Welcome to palmera! We've been here just a month and love it so far. Hope you and your family settle in quickly and enjoy it as much as we do:)

Hi there, today is my 4th day here and everything went very smoothly, my best advice to you is try not to stress out too much and let things take their time to settle...

Perhaps you could stay at the AR Golf Club or a serviced apartment in Al Barsha, until your container arrives. We 'camped' in our house until our container arrived, but we had bought beds. It was not fun, with kids, and it was not summer. I hope that your move goes smoothly.

And be prepared that Customs could take far longer during Ramadan due to short working hours. our container arrived during Ramadam last august and took around a week to clear customs once it had arrived at the port, so dont think it was delayed too much. HTH

I'd highly recommend NKD Pizza who deliver to Arabian Ranches. You can order online (when you get your phone and internet set up) and they are delicious and healthy pizza and they come really quickly. You can get pizza hut, KFC and Burger King all delivered for your convenience. We love living at Arabian Ranches and wherever you live you will be within walking distance of a pool where they are nicely chilled and you will also meet other people and children. Good luck and safe flight. An Arabian Rancher NKD Pizza is the best pizza in Dubai

Yes - I know, container arrives week before / 10 days at Jebel Ali, we have an estimated delivery date to the villa after clearing customs of the 18th Aug including allowance for Ramadan , we are using Britannia - so hoping they know their stuff!! So fingers crossed!

You really need to prepare for the container to take a lot longer. As Rubberduck stated, the container doesn't come straight to your house. Customs will go through it first and since it's happening during Ramadan it could take A LOT longer. Things slow to a snail's pace at Ramadan so plan on at least a week, minimum, until your container arrives at your house. Welcome to AR's!!

Err the container will land either at jebel Ali or Dubai. Sadly not at your door. Customs clearance will take anything up to two weeks, although our was 8 days. Just so you are prepared. Ours was inspected and some boxes were opened and furniture unwrapped.

just a word of advice, our container arrived one day and it took nearly 8 days to release it from customs at Jebel Ali and for it to be delivered to us at Ranches, I do hope you don't have to wait for yours - but just thought I'd warn you. :-)

Hi, Le Marche on Ranches should be open as normal 0730-2200 and they also have a hot food counter and do pizzas at the bakery, Pizza Hut, Costas and Burger King will be open I think during the day - only you can't sit in an eat, but Costas do have screens up so you can eat and drink there. Up at Motor City there should be plentyof take away stuff open plus the Spinneys will be open, again with a hot food counter/salad bar etc. Good luck and welcome
