For a fabulous standing rib roast go to The Butcher Shop and Grill and speak to the butcher and he'll cut you a joint to the size you want. They're at MCC, MoE and, I believe, somewhere in the Marina area. Had a wonderful roast sirloin last weekend - yummy!
whats the best way to cook a steak at home though? Butcher shop and grill is amazing food, I would love to cook it like they do but when you put a steak in a frying pan it just tastes awful
Use a chargrill pan - it's a cast iron pan with ridges in, make sure its smoking hot and you use the extractor fan.
I think Waitrose and Spinneys is the same.
I struggle with steak in a frying pan, the pan has to be pretty hot. We always BBQ for the best results (for us).

DH's birthday is coming up and he's requested roast beef. In the US I would by a prime standing rib roast. Normally I buy most of my meat at Spinneys and it's perfectly fine but I do wonder if Waitrose carries a better grade of meat? What about the new food hall at Galeries Lafayette at the Dubai Mall?
