Does anyone have a good remedy for new stretch marks? I have a friend who had a breast augmentation (medical reasons) just two months ago, and over the past few weeks quite a few stretch marks have appeared. Any suggestions?

Strivectin is indeed pretty good. I had a case of that given to me--liberally used it, and the overall appearance of my skin was nicer. I don't know if it works as well if you use it sparingly. I practically bathed in it :)

I have seen Strivectin at Faces and I think Sephora too. Its expensive but it really works as it contains retinoids. (dont use retinoids if your breastfeeding, its harmful to the baby). If she has sensitive skin then she should just use a little at a time otherwise her skin will start peeling.

Thanks Shannon - do you know where Strivectin is available in Dubai?

Strivectin is supposed to be one of the top creams for this. (It is NOT safe to use while pregnant) It is expensive though. I had the same problem. I got a breast augmentation and it looked like a starburst of stretch marks around my nipples... I went back to the doc and he said this happens to 1 in every 500 women and there is nothing I could do and no way to predict who it will happen to. It has to do with genetics and how your skin is. He did tell me to be prepared for when I get pregnant that my stomach would do the exact same thing, and sure enough it did... All stretched out and saggy :) lol All my stretch marks, breast and stomach, have since faded as they tend to do so none are red anymore, but as far as them being there or getting the skin to shrink back up to normal is not possible. Obviously for your stomach you can have a tummy tuck, but I don't think there is much you can do for the breast.

If they are only a month or two old, that sounds like there is still a window where topical treatments could be effective--to a degree. I had some success with retin-A in the past on stretch marks. Retinoids are shown to help. If the stretch marks are exposed at all to sunlight, she would have to use sunscreen by day while using a retinoid at night. (probably a non-factor due to the location). Wheat Germ oil (very high in vit E) is a good thing to use during the day to alternate with a retinoid at night. Glycolic acid (gentle alpha hydroxy) is also helpful because it stimulates cellular renewal. I am a huge fan of Bio Oil to improve skin's appearance. It contains Vitamin A but wouldn't be as strong as a formula like retin-A.

Hello there Don't know with breast augmentation but for pregnancy u need to start using a moisturizer for stretch marks all thru ur pregnancy and post delivery.thats when it really works.as soon as u get pregnant start putting on palmers stretch marks lotion/butter.i was not so regularl but I did start putting it on as early as 3-4 month. Post delivery (had a c-section) I put on bio oil and the same palmers lotion once thr oil finished. For the scar I put on mebo cream as prescribed by the doctor,I didn't feel it then but now.,8-9 months later I feel a huge difference. Another thing is that u Gota treat stretch marks while they r still pink...once they dry out n turn white ...nOthing would work. I would suggest that ur friend should ask her doctor for what to use specifically but Mebo stuff is great for scars etc.

they are the evil of a woman's life .... some swear by Bio Oil to reduce but I really don't think you can get rid of them :-( but I'd be glad to hear of a miracle .... no stretch marks until DS went 10 days over due ... then all **** broke loose!
