Best way to get TV package for maid?

Hi,
We have just hired a new live-in housemaid. She is from Phillipines and mentioned she would like to watch the Philippino channel GMA... apparently we can get this as an add on to our own OSN package (through Du) for 98 per month. However I have also heard you can get a satellite connection for a one-off fee and then watch free channels on that. I'd love to hear what others are doing, or any any advice. Thanks!

We are in the Lakes so we also have to use Du instead of Etisalat for telephone/internet etc but certainly not a must for TV satelite packages. DU has a TV package but its optional to take and as we have always had OSN, I opted to stay with them when we moved to the Lakes. Call OSN, I am sure they can/will install on the Palm. 04 3677888. If not, it may be something new I'm not aware of. HTH. I thought the satellites were illegal in the Lakes Du areas?

I think so and of course OSN installs the sattelite so that's taken care of.

Thanks, I guess the difference must be having a sattelite rather than through the DU cable?

SweetSugar, did you go through Du? I think we have to go through Du on the Palm and they said there was a charge for the decoder.

We have the OSN one, additional AED88 to your current subscription. Comes with many filipino channels. You can just call them up or go to the many kiosks in the malls and ask for the "maids" one. The decoder is free. They will know what you are requesting as its apparently popular amongst maids.

Sorry, don't have answers but would also be interested in any alternatives. At the moment we're looking at the Du package, I think it's the 98 per month for the package and another 30dhs per month for box rental if you need a new box for her room which is what we're looking at doing.
