Can you recommend a high blood pressure specialist, doctor in Dubai?

I am currently suffering from high blood pressure and high pulse. I was in the hospital for over 1 week after suffering cardiac arrest, and all possible tests were done. So far nobody has found anything wrong with me, except for the fact that my blood pressure is high, and my pulse is high. I am not over weight, I am very fit, I'm in my thirties, don't use alcohol or drugs, and eat a very balanced and healthy diet. I'm a former world championship level athlete and still workout every day. There is nothing wrong with my heart or my other organs (all tested and scanned), and my cholesterol values are impeccable... But still, my blood pressure is high, and my pulse while resting is higher than it should be. I am currently on medication, and feeling great, but I still would like to know what is wrong with me.

So ladies, if you have suffered from a similar condition or can recommend a specialist doctor in Dubai who could help me, I would be very grateful for your advice. I have been to AHD since I have understood that they are the best. (?)

Thanks.

Hi Fairytale, How was your experience with Dr. Taha? My husband is suffering from the same condition, so I am looking for a good specialist.

Thank you ALL for replying. And thank you for your support. It helps to know that others have suffered from similar symptoms and survived. :) Still, I am worried since I almost lost my life because of this. My potassium levels had dropped so low that my heart stopped working, so I believe there could be something wrong with my metabolism or I might suffer from some kind of hormonal imbalance, that has caused all this. Or maybe even Celiac disease? I am feeling really desperate and sad about this all. I don't know anyone who would live as healthily as I do, and what I have been through, seems so unfair, since I have done everything that a human should do, to prevent this from happening. @spongemonkey I am indeed seeing Dr Taha next week, so let's hope he will be able to help me. :) THANK YOU once again for all the replies, and if anyone can still offer any kind of advice, I will be forever grateful!

Hi Sorry cant recommend as i am in Doha but i have suffered from high blood pressure for the last 10 years, found out i had it after a small operation when i was 39 and have been on tablets ever since monitored when i go home by my own doctor and also myself with a home blood pressure machine. There is no specific reason apart from its hereditary and nothing anyone can do (i too am fairly fit, not overweight). So its a case of just managing it im afraid and its way better to be taking tablets than suffering something much worse. Hope that was a little helpful.

I was going to recommend Dr Taha at American Hospital but think this is the place you are using? I have been told in the past by doctors ( not him) that sometimes there are no causes for certain conditions - they just are ...eg with HBP sometimes it is just essential hypertension, cause unknown. If it sets you mind at ease, I had my case notes from there reviewed by a BUPA consultant in the UK and he said they had done an excellent job.

I would go back to your doctor who is prescribing the medications you are currently on, with a list of your questions. Find out exactly what happened to you, the diagnosis he/she made, and what the medications are and what they do. If you are not satisfied with the explanations, you might need to ask to see a cardiologist and ask the doctor to refer you.
