This is what they told me: from the minute I process the paperwork and pay the deposit I will be liable for the bills - was this guy wrong then? This was at DEWA Main.
Can I go now - do forms and pay deposit THEN in say 2 weeks time, call them and say " Turn it on" ?
As DEWA told you - once you pay the deposit and reconnection fee the bill will become your responsibility.

I don't think it is simple at all. I think it is a shambles.
You cannot arrange ahead of time for DEWA to be connected to a property without you starting to pay bills for the place! How ludicrous - oh and by the way , the guy at DEWA told me he wouldn't do the online as you can't guarantee it!
you can connect DEWA and place the security deposit - if someone turns on the tap or the electricity switch then of course you will pay for it ..dont do it online but as soon as they have accepted your security deposit then go outside and call the DEWA emergency line - press no 2 and they will sent someone to connect within 24hours SM _ I think you have had a bad experience i think if you understand and can outsmart the system its pretty simples ...

As regards the disconnection, you can request a date but not sure if you can request am or pm.
Surely ALL of DEWA do not go off for the holiday, do they????
Hi...Its a very simple procedure...I just did it a couple of days as we've moved homes....So I first applied for a new activation in the place we've moved into.I then requested DEWA for a final bill...yes you can specify a date that you'd like it disconnectd from...They will then send u a text msg to come and collect the final bill and the balance of yr deposit...(the final bill amt is adjusted against the deposit)
I went to the DEWA branch near Mazaaya center...very efficient and quich..and not too crowded as well...hope this helps:))
I requested it to be cut off on a certain day, and unfortunately for once they were efficient! (I was delayed) If I remember it was first thing in the morning.
Thanks bbcb - I know how to do it, just want to know if you can specify a time of day when they stop it - don't want it cutting off at 8am when everyone's gonna be sweatin' up a storm :\:
you need to apply for your final bill 2-3 days before you move - ideally pay your outstanding DEWA upto date and ask a friendly agent to do it on your behalf especially if your running around like a headless chicken ! x
You can apply on line for the final bill but that has to be paid in cash in the DEWA office x
Does anyone know whether you can request DEWA to be stopped at a specific time of day?
We're moving out on Thursday 3rd November from our current villa and as it's the weekend and then Eid we don't want the DEWA running on our account for almost another week, but equally we don't want the electricity stopped in the morning say of the 3rd when we've got the removal guys in schlepping heavy furniture and boxes etc - can just imagine the sweat and discomfort for all (especially me).:\:
The online request system doesn't allow you to specify a time - was just wondering if you go into an office whether you can do so
