HI
does anyone have any recommendations for shops/places/people to get cheap blackout blinds and curtains from. I am not bothered whether ready made or made to order. Many people have recommended jamal, whilst he is lovely he quoted nearly 3000dhs for 2 windows, which, maybe quite ok to some, but way above my budget. Looked at ikea but they didnt have blackouts.....any recommendations would be appreciated :-)

I am in the same situation looking for blackout curtains and blinds, I've had 3 quotes including Jamal for 2 windows and it's just way too expensive . I have already spent a small fortune on curtains for a rented house and these are the last ones I need due to my DD wakening early with the light in the hall!!. Once you buy the curtains from Dragon mart/Homecentre what do you do about poles and hanging them? are you just doing it yourself? thinking of sending DH while we are on holiday so need all the info for him!! thanks.... You can buy curtain poles in Ikea, dragon mart, ace, etc. then depends on your husband if he can do it himself or get someone to come and put the curtain poles up for him.

I bought some blackout out curtains last week from West Elm in Dubai Mall (they are owned by Pottery Barn.) Each panel was 70Dhs in the sale half price, they go up to about 270cm drop I think, I got the 243cm. . They had a pole top, but I am going to stitch them to my existing curtains myself so I can hang them from rings. Doesn't have to be perfect stitching as you wont see them :)

I've ordered some fully blackout curtains over the weekend, and paid 1000 dhs for 3 windows for my new villa.( and these windows are massive, 320 cm tall so lots of fabric). they have loads of fabrics to choose from, beautiful colours and designs and patterns and well as plain ones. one suggestion, if you go to dragon mart don't go into shops on the main allyway, if go behind, there is lots and lots of shops which offer much cheaper prices. and try to bargain with them. hope this helps.
