I went to Dr Bhatia as a teenager for my braces and he did an absolutely terrific job, and I know several people who visited him and were happy with his treatment. Hes still at Al Ghurair - Central Polyclinic and his prices are comparatively less compared to the fancy Jumeirah clinics. I highly recommend him but must warn you that he has a gruff manner about him that some people find takes getting used to :)

With the more expensive dentists, you are paying extra for the rent and the more esthetically pleasing clinics and receptionists....

I ended up seeing Dr Christopher - very pleased and going for a followup. Going to my home country in 2 weeks so I'll know the quality of his work ...

I don't recommend ever going to a 'cheap' dentist. Most likely you are going to have to fix whatever they did and in the long run you will pay more. Not "most likely" at all, Cowboy. I've had nothing but great service with Dr Christopher, who ended up repairing damage done to my tooth by another dentist. A friend also went to Dr Madhu on my recommendation, after her veneer was improperly fitted by one of the costlier dentists in Jumeirah.

As you've read in some of the responses I would also argue it's based on the care you're used to from back home. In either way I hope all went well for you! For next time (or if someone else wants another suggestion) I too went to Dr. Michaels Clinic before. If it wasn't for the fact that I was very happy with my dentist (Dr. Eva Gorton) I would have changed dentist in a second because of the prices. Lucky me she decided to open up her own clinic a couple of years back, called My Dental Clinic in Umm Suqeim, and they have reduced the prices from her last clinic.. With that said it's not the prices you find in Karama or Deira but you get your treatment from a very experienced Dentist at reasonable rates :) I would happily recommend Dr. Eva to anyone looking for great dental care :) edited by McDubai on 01/02/2015

I can highly recommend the Mankhool Dental Clinic in Karama - Dr Christopher or Dr Madhu. There have been a load of good reviews for them given here, which led me to them in the first place. Clean, professional and cheap

Thanks ladies ... I booked myself into Marina Medical after a recommendation for a friend. Prices are alright, I guess February will be a tight month :(

I'm not sure what standard of medical care you're used to, but I went to Iranian Hospital once. NEVER AGAIN. edited by Stix on 28/01/2015 My friend was very happy there but I guess it depends on the level of care we are used to. There are supposed to be some cheaper Drs near Deira and Satwa but sorry don't know any... My DH goes to Dr Michael on Al Wasl Rd but he is not cheap

Stix, thanks for the feedback - may I ask why? Are the doctors really bad or was it a hygiene issue? I just don't want to pay thousands at a private dentist ...

Please can you recommend a cheap dentist - I have no insurance and my implant fell out. Is Iranian hospital okay? I just need a temporary fix before I go home. TIA
