Hi All

Any suggestions of where we can go for Christmas... either with weather similar to here or just a bit cooler. But still able to get out about about using a pram for a 16 mth old plus I will be 24 weeks pregnant by that time.

I would also prefer somewhere that will potentially have english speaking doctors as every trip we have been on so far DS has ended up at the doctors for one reason or another!

We've been to Turkey... we come from Oz and have done 3 trips back there already this year so not going that far.
Am a bit nervous about Asia region as some natural disaster seems to strike there over Christmas New Years... well it has the past few years.

So.... any other suggestions?

TIA.

SA is beautiful. I live in kwazulu-natal and love it!! Places to visit - Cape Town, Knysna, Durban, Drakensburg (Mountains), Mpumulanga (Kruger Park), Sun City....and loads more. Definately worth the trip, and sooo economical compared to other countries :)

totally agree . South Africa is amazing and Dec its lush and green and not too hot .. you should try a Safari there to the Kruger or if you think thats too much .. do a day visit to the lion park . When we were there .. did a day trip .. we went with family and friends , kids got to play with lion cubs and giraffes... then went to Cape town for a few days ... Beautiful vineyards and strawberry farms ... lovely people.

I second South Africa. We took our (then toddler) and I can't recal any curtailing of sampling the local drinks! Perhaps stay a couple of days in the wine region (Franschoek was where we stayed) and arrange babysitters in the evening or take taxis. A particularly sublime experience was a picnic at Boschendal (they supply it all ready in a basket). Cape Town is one of my favourite cities. Have you thought of Beirut? Loved that too!

Watched the Cape Town episode of '4 men and a lady' yesterday and it sounds lovely for a family with babies/toddlers. Only shame is that you would have to miss out on the wine tasting at the vineyards ... yes I know, however DH does love the sound of this option because it means he has a designated driver and DS would get breaks from the car etc. Grrrr. LOL.

I was just looking up the updated visa info for Oman as I'd love to get back there again and I have a friend coming to Dubai for a month. I love Oman since it's very peaceful, has loads of natural beauty and the people are really nice, gentle and friendly. How long are you planning on going for? Christmas Day is on a Sunday this year, so you could do 4 or 5 days. The drive to Muscat and down along the coast is really pretty too. You can go watch the turtles lay their eggs at night. That was one thing we missed when we were there. edited by natalie8 on 01/11/2011 thanks Natalie8... We had thought of that too but unfortunately DS hates the car so to be strapped in it for more than half an hour at a time makes driving rather difficult. We would have to stop about 3 times for 2-3 hrs before he'd happily get back in the car. We were thinking Spain, Italy or Sth Africa??
