I am prone to cold sores as I have auto immune disease, I use zovirax ( at any pharmacy) as soon as I feel a little sorness itch ( start of the demon) i have never heard of such rubbish that your friend is talkig about. Yes its a form of herpes but in no way is it a std. As far as insurance goes i am not sure this is a huge pre exisiting condition. I have never even thought about claiming it on my insurance as pre exisiting as it is so small of a case. Cold sores come from winter, germs,viruses etc. it is very common.
I have lived here for 15 years and never had a problem but I do know how to catch a cold sore before it erupts. Your friend makes UAE sound crazy sorry to say!
Hi Ladies! Just recently joined and new in Dubai (exactly 3 months here!). I'm just learning the culture now ;) . I have to apply for a health insurance. I had cold sores years ago and I was wondering if I can declare this in the form as pre existing. Me and my husband is TTC and it's important to cover all. A friend of mine from back home (who worked here for a few months) told me that since this is a muslim country I might face repercussions for this since will be considered as an Std since it's herpes. She also said that health providers are not very welcome with this condition. Where I came from, this is very common and got mine from my parents. I was wondering if you could give me more info.
