Hi

I was thinking of taking my dog back to the UK for a month this year only looking into it. Does anyone know how much this would roughly cost at all with the new changes to importing being relaxed. I know the only airports you can fly into at Manchester or Heathrow and I would use Emirates. It is only a long shot not sure if it worth the trauma for him obviously I would research this properly before I made any decision. I never normally would do this but my mum loves my little guy and isn't able to come and visit anymore due to my fathers health and her recent diagnosis with Alzheimers and I know that she and my and my father would love it if he came back with me he is the main topic of conversation with them on the phone. He is a cocker spaniel and only weighs 10kgs as I believe the cost is dependant on weight as well.

TIA

Thanks hetfield I will get in touch with Emirates. I had estimated about 10k so hopefully wouldn't be much more than that.

Email emirates cargo and they will send you all the details by email including the guidelines to estimate the cost for your dog based on either his size or weight (including crate) I recently sent 2 desert dogs back in November so before the UK changes. This doesn't make it any cheaper though, must means you only have to wait a month from rabies blood test to travel as opposed to the 6 months before! The cost for one dog and for cargo cost only was about 5k aed. A bigger dog weighing 20kg but gives you a rough idea... Not a cheap exercise but surprisingly straightforward to arrange once you know where to go to get all the bits of paper!
